The structure after which this building is named stands in Rome, was erected in 72 A.D. and is world-famous. The seven-storey Colosseo stands on the site of the former slaughterhouse of Frankfurt which has been demolished. Two thirds of the oval building is given over to office and commercial use, while the remainder is occupied by apartments. It encloses a richly planted courtyard, which offers the building’s users an oasis of calm. The overall design is the work of the architect Manuel Alvarez; the facade planning was carried out by the architect Christoph Mäckler.
